In 2004, sisters Fran and Nicki decided to go to a weekend Bob Proctor seminar titled 'You
Were Born Rich'.
Nicki remembers sitting there absolutely entranced by what she was seeing and hearing. "It was sensational stuff, and about
half way through the second day Fran leaned over to me and said, 'This is amazing! If only we had known this years ago."'
Within a minute, Fran again leaned over and whispered, "Do they teach any of this in schools?"
Nicki, having almost 20 years experience as a primary school teacher replied, "No, nothing!"
Again Fran leaned over. "Well, they
should!",
she said, and then in an even louder whisper added, "You should write a program for kids about all of this!" Nicki said, "You write
a kid's program!", immediately thinking, 'As if I didn't already have a busy life!'
To Nicki's amazement Fran answered, "Well, I will."
Nicki looked at her as only a sister could and went on listening to the seminar.
Nothing more was said until the end of the seminar. Fran was determined to find out if there was a children's version of 'Born Rich', so she introduced herself to the facilitator of the seminar, Russell Aitken, and asked him if there was a children's version so she
could purchase it for her own children.
Russell didn't think so, to which Fran promptly replied, "Well, my sister and I are going to write one!"
Nicki looked at her sister in total disbelief!
How could she just come out and say something like that! Russell also had a shocked look on his face but he graciously replied, "Well, good luck with it!"
Nothing more was said about the kid's program, however, a few days later Fran got a call from Russell. He
wanted to know if he could be part of the team and when they were planning on getting started!
A date was set that suited all three, and on a cold Monday morning they
sat around Fran's kitchen table for the first time, with pens and blank sheets of paper in hand, eating lentil soup and toast, wondering what on
earth they were doing!
Forty two weeks later, after many meetings, much discussion and countless bowls of lentil soup, The
Power Of Me was born. |
